Privacy policy
Last updated 31 October 2026
We collect only what we need to run Moose, we protect it, and we never sell it. This page says what we hold, why, and what you can do about it. It follows Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019.
1. What we collect
- Your account: your name, mobile number and email, or your Google account name and email if you sign in with Google.
- Your learning: the courses you bought, the lessons you watched, your reviews and the questions you asked creators.
- Payments: the M-Pesa number you paid from, the amount and the M-Pesa receipt code. We never see your M-Pesa PIN.
- Creators: the application you send us, the links you share and what you upload.
- Messages to us: what you write on the Help page and our replies.
- Technical data: basic information your device sends when it connects, used to keep the service secure and working.
2. Why we use it
- To sign you in, open the courses you bought and remember where you stopped.
- To take payments, send refunds and pay creators.
- To text or email you sign-in codes, receipts and replies, and to tell you about decisions on applications and refunds.
- To review creators, answer support requests and protect Moose from fraud and abuse.
- To meet our legal duties.
3. Who helps us
We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- Safaricom (M-Pesa) to process payments.
- An SMS provider and an email provider to deliver codes and messages.
- Cloudflare to store course videos, notes and images, and to check that visitors are people when they sign in.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- A database host that stores our data.
A creator can see your name and your questions in their courses. They do not receive your phone number or email. We may also disclose information when the law or a court requires it.
4. How we protect it
Phone numbers and emails are encrypted in our database, connections are encrypted, staff accounts need a second step to sign in, and staff actions on accounts are logged. No system is perfectly safe, so if something affecting you goes wrong we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If you delete your account, we remove your personal details. We may keep limited payment and refund records for as long as accounting and tax rules require.
6. Your choices
- See and correct your details on the Account page.
- Turn email alerts off on the Account page.
- Delete your account from the Account page. This is permanent.
- Ask us anything about your data, or to correct or restrict its use, at moose@vixe.africa. You may also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya.
7. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. We do not use advertising cookies.
8. Children
Moose is for people 18 and over, or younger learners using it with a parent or guardian’s permission. If you think a child has given us their information without permission, write to us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We will change the date above when we update this policy, and tell you if a change matters. Questions: moose@vixe.africa.
